...according to an article in the New York Times.

Jon Boy, can you confirm what they're saying about the play on words in the title "Much Ado About Nothing"? I'd never heard that before, and while it's possible (and seems like the kind of thing that Shakespear would have gone for) I'm a bit skeptical for some reason.

I've never heard anything like that before, and the OED doesn't seem to back it up. A Google search doesn't turn anything up, either. Sounds pretty spurious to me.

I had heard about a pun in that title, but I don't remember if it was that pun. Shakespeare did love to pun, though, and most of his puns were dirty. I wouldn't be surprised.
