Title: Trying a little experiment
Post by: Jonathon on November 21, 2016, 01:56:15 PM
I cooked up this theme and have been testing it out for a little while just on my own account, but I thought I'd try applying it to the English & Linguistics board to see how I like it in practice when it switches back and forth between this and the default theme.

I'm not big on change, but I like it.

Thanks! I'm worried that the grey bars are too dark compared to the rest of the forum, even though they match what's on Arrant Pedantry. But I had a hard time finding a matching brown that I liked.

Is that grey?

It works, I think, whatever color it is.

Yeah, it's just a very dark grey.

It looks sleek and spare, just like English isn't.

I see what you're doing, and makes sense to make the change. Not sure how I like it. I think the title bar doesn't work as well here as on the Arrant Pedantry site, partly because the font is smaller and harder to read here. The letters don't stand out as well on my browser, though they are readable. Just not as nice as on Arrant Pedantry.

The color is #33333, which is a pure neutral grey. But different monitors or different lighting could certainly make it look brownish or bluish.

Does this mean we now have to watch our grammar closely for fear that others might think us uneducated idiots? Asking for a friend...

I bumped up the weight of the text a little. Does that help?

Of course not! It would be rude of us to judge you like that. Besides, uneducated idiots are a great source of linguistic data.
