Title: Old English and Frisian
Post by: Jonathon on December 14, 2007, 11:20:13 AM
I just saw this video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OeC1yAaWG34) posted on Hatrack. While I think it oversimplifies the issue, it does make a good point about the relatedness of English and Frisian. Some of the Frisian was surprisingly easy to understand, especially "for the cheese and for the butter." Check it out.

Well, pretty bad Old English, but yes. Old English sounded much more like German than Modern English does, so it's not surprising that it sounds very German to you. In fact, that's to be expected.
