I just got a letter informing me that sometime in the next few days, someone is going to call me with a survey about TV and radio. It included this wonderful paragraph:

We need your help to ensure the quality of our research. We’ve enclosed a thank you gift. This thank you gift is for taking the time to read this letter. Please share this letter with others in your household. (italics in original)

The thank you gift was a crisp new one-dollar bill. Of course I had to show the letter to Brinestone so she could share in my excitement. The letter continued:

If your household is selected, we will send you an additional small cash gift!

I’m nearly giddy with anticipation. What could it possibly be? Two dollars? Or—dare I hope—five?
