One Year Older and Wiser Too
Friday was my birthday, and I’m still trying to get used to the fact that I’m now 28. Yeah, I know it’s not really that old, but I’m starting to feel not quite so young anymore. Anyway, it was a nice birthday, though most of the fun happened the two days beforehand. Brinestone’s mom and sister were in town for the week, and they watched the kids for a day and a half while Brinestone and I took a mini-vacation.
We spent the day hanging out and doing fun stuff, then went out to dinner at the always-excellent Bombay House, then spent the night at the same bed and breakfast we went to on our wedding night. The next morning we went to the temple and then headed home after getting lunch at J-Dawgs. Even though we were only gone for a day and a half and didn’t go anywhere exciting or exotic, it was really nice to get a break from the kids and spend some time with my beautiful wife. Thanks to my mother-in-law for offering to watch the kids on our little getaway.

Belated happy birthday. I’m very much in favour of the mini-breaks for parents. So far we’ve done two (just overnighters) – and we only have one kid!
(Also, I’m 28 in May. I’m just getting used to putting 27 as my age. I get what you say about not being young anymore – it feels… odd.)
