Productivity
It always feels good to have a really productive Saturday. I don’t have those often enough, I think. Yesterday I started off by cleaning the mold out of our storage closet (it’s a large, uninsulated closet under the front porch, and some mold was growing around some cracks in the cement where moisture was apparently coming through) and filling up the cracks with insulation foam.
Then I drove up to Provo, where my brother Mr. Anderson helped me tow a dead 93 Buick Regal Limited home. I’ve towed cars a block or two before, but not sixteen miles. That was kind of an adventure. The car has a blown head gasket (and, inexplicably, a missing battery and starter motor—I’m going to have to ask the previous owners about that), and I’m going to steal parts off of it to fix up Brinestone’s Regal, including a fender, headlight, bumper assembly, grille, window motor, door lock actuator, power antenna, cruise control module, and HVAC controls. Yeah, I’ve got a lot of work ahead of me, but that’s not bad for a $300 investment. Then Mr. A drove me back to Provo get my car.
When I finally got home, I did the dishes and cleaned up the kitchen a bit. Then I took Lego with me to Wal-Mart to deposit a check and buy a few dozen things. Over an hour later, we finally got home again. (Have I ever mentioned how much I hate Wal-Mart? I’ll have to blog about that sometime.) The poor kid fell asleep in the car on the way home. I then installed an under-cabinet light over the sink so that you can actually see what you’re doing when you do the dishes.
After dinner, Brinestone and I watched last night’s episode of Battlestar Galactica (which was awesome, by the way). Then I tinkered with my website for a couple of hours—nothing major, just little tweaks to the graphics, colors and layout.
Today, by comparison, has been remarkably unproductive, which isn’t surprising since it’s Sunday. We showed up to church at 11:00 and realized that it was stake conference today, which meant we’d missed the first hour. Oops. Then I tinkered with my site some more, and now I’m putting off finishing my homework by blogging instead. I should probably get off now and get back to that. . . .

Reading about Battlstar Galactica loosely remindes me that Josh has always wanted to name a girl Ortho Galacta Black.

Perhaps it’s for the best that you’re having another boy. ;)
